Progress Well here I am at a little over 4 weeks out from ACL reconstruction. Today I made 123 degrees of motion on my own, which is really good. The best part is that rehab was almost painless today. This is also my second week of going to the gym 3 days a week, and I hope in another week or two I can start my lower body workouts. That means I'll be at the gym 4 days a week, and I have discovered a different way of getting my cardio up to par so that should start coming along quickly now. I have managed to step all over my new friends' feelings unintentionally lately, but hopefully they will forgive me and understand I was trying to do the right thing. It was never my intention to hurt them or insult them, only to protect them from unforseen problems. I've got my fingers crossed they won't just tell me to piss off.

Latest update Well, I have finally gotten some unexpected but very welcome prodding to do more in my Journal so here goes. Feb 7th I went in for an "exploratory arthroscopy" of my right knee. The doctor wasn't sure if anything major was wrong so he decided to look at it and see. Turns out I had torn my ACL 95% loose and scar tissue was the only thing holding it together. So now I am spending some "quality time" with some really pretty young ladies in rehab. I think these rehab places require you to be a hottie to work there so nobody will hurt them back. Every time I get to the point where I really want to hurt someone, she smiles and tells me I'm doing great. Kinda takes the wind right out of me. I'm a sucker for a pretty woman, especially if they have a great personality. Now I have two big scars on my knee to go along with the 3 little ones from the previous scope. Tomorrow will be the first day back to the gym. I really need it bad. I'm up to about 215-220 pounds and I look soft, which pisses me off. Now that I can walk without crutches I will be doing a lot of catching up with the rest of the guys. Our fight group went to St Joseph MO for a fight last weekend, but I haven't heard how they did. I hope they did well. I'm really looking forward to my first fight, and now I'm looking forward to a little something new as well. I'll wait and see though. Life is funny that way, when it throws things at you unexpectedly it pays to take your time. "Enjoy the ride", I'll make it worthwhile.

Great news! Great news! I have finally made some progress! I am now averaging 200 lbs or so, and I have finally broken the 16 minute mark on the 2 mile run. My new best time is 15:22! I go to the gym 4 days a week and I run at least twice if not more. The fights that were supposed to be Sep 29th have been postponed until some time in October, so keep your ears open. My bid to become a military man have fallen through again, for the last time because of my knees. Maybe they will change their minds after I fight.

Another letdown Well here is the latest. I have changed several things around in an attempt to lose more weight. Our fight stable lost a fighter to a broken rib so I was trying to take his fight for him. One problem. I weighed around 208 when I found out, and he was 185. So I had 2 1/2 weeks to lose 28 pounds. I got as far as getting my name on a poster for this saturday, but could only get to about 200 lbs. So we had to call the fight because I was too heavy. Talk about frustrated. My runs now are 2 miles twice a week and one 5 mile run. I dropped back to only 2 trips to the gym a week to see if I can lose more weight without sacrificing muscle. So the fights are at 3707 Burlingame at a place called "Sportzone" starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets are running about 20$. Maybe next time I will have an actual fight.

Progress at last! Great news today! Not only did I finally make my goal on the run,(break 16 minutes(15:59)) but I also made my weight again at 203. I still don't have an opponent for June so we'll see where I go from here. Maybe I'll get in at another event and get a chance to show my game. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Later.

The good news! The good news is that I'm over my cold. The bad news is I don't have an opponent yet for the fight. Talk about pissed! I've been busting my ass to get ready only to find out I might not have somebody to fight. My runs are consistently around 16:15 or so, and my strength is way up. I've also been studying the Army's combat course, (levels 1 and 2)which has really brought my ground game up a lot. My trainer wants me to keep training hard so I will, but the longer I have to wait the meaner I'm going to be when I do fight. My wife is now a Correctional Officer also, so Kudos to her. I just don't even have the energy to cuss about it now. I guess there aren't many of us out there. What a crock of shit! By the time I get an opponent lined up I'll be ready to retire. I guess I can retire undefeated. Oh wow. Later.

News So here we are less than 2 months out from the fight and guess what. I GOT SICK!! Who's freaking bright idea was that? I made my weight 2 mondays ago and promptly ate my way back up to 207 from 202.5 in a week. Isn't it amazing how slow you lose weight and how fast you put it back on? I have finally gotten my regular class set up on Mondays so I can get in better form before the fight. My shins are bruised up, my knees hurt every day, and I get blood blisters on the balls of my feet every session, but man am I having fun! Do I sound as sick as I think I do? If I make any money on the fight, maybe I'll spring for a big BBQ in the back yard,(That or a Tattoo). Well, gotta fly and go to work. See ya next time. Out.

Latest I don't get it. I ran on the 12th and turned in a 16:14. Then, before I caught my breath I went out back and carried 6 tree stumps (200-250 lbs) across the yard. The new style of training is supposed to improve my strength when I'm tired. Oh, I finally got it arranged so I can train on Mondays with a guy who outweighs me by about 45-50 lbs. If I can get to the point where I can handle him, I should be fine in the ring.

Update Well shit! Another lapse on the run to the tune of 16:47. What a crock! As punishment, that day I did 250 pushups, 200 crunches, and 140 lat lifts. I was sore as hell the next day. I didn't even run on Friday. I was still too pissed off about Wednesday. I did do 300 pushups, 250 crunches, and 160 lat lifts. The good news is I am training Monday at 5 pm at Maximus in North Topeka. The boxing ring in the back has been awful busy whenever I went there on a Monday but we'll see. Maybe they'll let me fight my way into the ring!.

Letdown Well I ran, and I had a lapse just like I expected. 16:30 today. Aggravating as hell. Every time I think I might break the 16 minute mark something like this happens. I guess this is my plateau. Maybe I'll get it next time.

And my dumbell curls are up to 50 lbs per arm. Progress at last! Fight day is June 10th somewhere in town. Feel free to invite a few friends(or enemies). Somebody will enjoy seeing me get the crap beat out of me.

Running fool Ran today with some awesome results! I beat my personal best today by 8 seconds. 16:07 today! Only got 50 pushups but that's OK. Didn't really have time to get more. At least I got them all at once. I still have 2 months to get there.

Fitness news Progress is not supposed to be quite this...uncomfortable. Power day is done, and I didn't get much done. I did get my leg press at 590 lbsx5, chest press at 250 lbsx5, and curls with 50 lb dumbellsx10. I also got the incline chest press at 135 lbs per armx2. The run showed some progress last time (16:21), and we'll see if it holds today. I need to start letting all my friends know when the fight is so they can see me get lit up.

Fight news Looks like June 10th is going to be the day I learn all about how to take an "ass-whoopin". Workouts are getting tough, and motivation is hard to come by. Didn't even try any push-ups or crunches cause I was too sore. I did run though, and had a pretty good time (16:21). Chapter 3 in the book is almost done. Tomorrow is the power lift day. Maybe I'll break something and have a legitimate excuse to sit on my ass and get fat! NAH. Won't happen. I don't have that much good luck in me. Still haven't had any luck getting time in with my trainer. I'm starting to think I may have to fight with what I have now, which ain't much more than bull-headed and tough. I guess we'll have to see.

I am aiming for about 500 push-ups and 500 crunches every other day. We'll see how close I get. By the way, running in the sleet and snow sucks. See you next time.

First entry Thanks to a good buddy of mine, sneakypete for getting me started on this. I guess we'll see how far it goes. Been training for about 2 1/2 months now and hopefully can start getting in the action soon. Finally got onto the SORT Team again. Feels good even if the idiots running the place try to ruin it for all of us. Book is coming along slowly, but I never really thought it would go as fast as it has. MAYBE i'll get it done in 3 or 4 months.
